Newborn girl’s head gets stuck inside toilet pan of Bargarh district hospital, rescued

A newborn girl fell and her head reportedly got stuck inside the toilet pan after she was delivered inside a washroom of Bargarh district headquarters hospital.

As per reports, the newborn girl was rescued safely by some local residents. The newborn has been admitted to the SNCU and her condition is said to be stable.

Sources said the family members of one Santoshini Mirdha had admitted her to the hospital after she complained of labour pain.

“My wife had gone to the toilet to attend nature’s call when she delivered the baby today. However, the newborn’s head got stuck inside the toilet pan. A staffer and other locals managed to safely rescue the baby,” said Santoshini’s husband Bipin.

Even though the newborn girl has been safely rescued, many have blamed the authorities for lack of adequate doctors and staff at the hospital over the incident.

Though OTV tried to contact the CDMO over the incident, no comments could be obtained.
