New metro project in Bhubaneswar
A fresh blueprint for a new metro project is steadily progressing, according to senior officials, following a crucial subcommittee session held earlier this week.
The meeting, chaired by the Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, saw in-depth discussions on improving public transportation, mitigating traffic congestion, and evaluating various modal plans under the proposed metro scheme.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated, “We anticipate more clarity after further consultations, as the findings from today’s discussions need a thorough review. There is a necessity for two or three more rounds of in-depth dialogue before arriving at any definitive resolutions.”
“A subcommittee has been formed under the chairmanship of Deputy CM KV Singh Deo. A meeting was also held in this regard, where several aspects of the metro were discussed and taken into consideration. The focus is on the metro, mobility plan, and decongestion,” informed Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan.
The minister added that the government is committed to finding long-term solutions to the city’s traffic woes through enhanced public transport infrastructure, with the metro project at the heart of these plans.
“Further details will be discussed in another meeting, where everything will be finalised. Our main focus will be what is good for the government, for Odisha, and the common people in Bhubaneswar,” he added.
