Security forces have busted a naxal camp during a combing operation in Patadhara reserve forest area near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The naxal camp was detected near Jholapada village under Sinapali police limits in Nuapada district.

Senior officials said that several detonators, low-intensity explosives, naxal uniforms and literature have been seized along with empty AK-47 cartridge.

“On August 17, we had launched an operation along with SOG, DVF, CRPF and we detected a naxal camp near Jholapada village the next day. We have recovered several naxal articles including detonators, uniforms, low explosive materials, literature, AK 47 empty cartridge and other items,” said Nuapada SP GR Raghavendra.

According to the SP, around 20-25 naxals were at the spot and they fled after seeing police. No exchange of fire took place, he added.

CRPF Commandant said, “CRPF 19th Battalion, 207 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and 216 battalion are deployed in Nuapada and a lot of operation is going on with police. We are intensifying our operations here.”
