Firebrand BJP stalwart and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Jayanarayan Mishra on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, accusing him of leasing out the government to 5T Secretary, VK Pandian.

“Naveen Patnaik has leased out the government to Pandian. The leased-out government’s days are numbered. Since they (Naveen Patnaik and 5T secretary) are involved in all the corruption, they would one day find themselves behind bars. This time the battle will be a fierce one and Naveen Patnaik’s government will collapse,” said Mishra, on the sidelines of the party’s core committee meeting held in Bhubaneswar today.

The core committee meeting of the BJP was attended by the party's Odisha in-charge, Sunil Bansal, National Vice President Baijayant Panda, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, LoP Jayanarayan Mishra and other top leaders. The party has prepared a roadmap for the coming two months to take on the BJD government and win maximum Lok Sabha seats.

At the meeting, the leaders discussed how the organisation could be strengthened at the booth, Shakti Kendra, Mandal, block and constituency levels and how the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be taken to the people.

The leaders also decided to take the present panchayat-level agitation against the state government’s corruption to the district level.

“A decision has been taken to intensify the ongoing panchayat-level agitation against corruption and take it to the district level,” said Odisha BJP president, Manmohan Samal.

Informing about the programmes to be taken up, BJP MP Basant Panda said, “We will organize health camps, blood donation camps, visit tribal villages and meet the people as a part of Seva Pakhwada.”

Seva Pakhwada is a 15-day-long programme that the BJP is going to launch on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

Taking the side of his government, BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra said, “Considering the period we have been ruling, it is natural that some people will raise several issues. People have faith in Naveen babu’s leadership and by the grace of Lord Jagannath, several pro-people programmes are being transformed into action and people are reaping benefits. Others are telling so many things but doing nothing.”
