A day after OTV telecast a report on the plight of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s cousins Dilip Patnaik and Rekha Patnaik, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim on Tuesday assured all kinds of assistance for his treatment and well-being.

Dilip Patnaik is the son of George Patnaik, elder brother of late Biju Patnaik. “I do not want to go into politics; as an elected representative, I have come to look into the matter and he (Dilip) needs help. I only urge CM Naveen Patnaik to take measures as many things do not reach him. I am sure he will do his best for his brother when he gets information,” said Moquim.

Moquim further said that Dilip Patnaik stays in Anand Bhawan, close to the swanky Anand Bhawan in Cuttack, the birthplace of Naveen Patnaik.

“I thank MLA Moquim for doing his duty. I have not spoken or met with Naveen Patnaik since he became the chief minister of Odisha. What is the role of a brother? I am poor but he (Naveen) is the owner of crores of money. What relation can we have, if he doesn’t see or look after his brother?,” questioned Dilip Patnaik.

Dilip further recalled the times when he along with Naveen Patnaik used to eat, play and sleep together at the Anand Bhawan. "What hurts the most is the fact that he (Naveen) has not kept any relation with anyone and got too involved for Odisha and votes," he said.

“Those working for Naveen Patnaik are just like rubber stamps and they are making crores. I have never tried to contact Naveen Patnaik as he is always busy. I am sure he doesn’t know who stays at Anand Bhawan here. He had last visited to inaugurate the newly constructed Anand Bhawan. I tried to visit but security personnel stopped me even though I said that I am his brother,” alleged Dilip.

Dilip’s financial condition is not good and his health condition is deteriorating after meeting with an accident.

“I only want Naveen Patnaik to do his duty as a brother. Even though he is doing a lot for the state, he neglected his own brother. I do my own work and people here know me as Naveen Patnaik’s brother. But I never use this identity,” Dilip said adding that every human has a hope that things will change.
