In a good news for law enforcement agencies, Odisha will get its first narco analysis test centre soon.

As per reports, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar will act as the test centre for all the narco tests ordered in Odisha and beyond.

All the required equipment have already arrived at the State Forensic Science Laboratory. And they will be shifted to the Operation Theatre (OT) of the Capital Hospital where all the narco tests will be done.

Psychiatrists and anaesthelogists of the hospital are currently undergoing training for the same.

The tests will start as early as next month, informed Director of Capital Hospital Laxmidhar Sahu.

Speaking to the reporters, Sahu said, “During the investigation of Naba Das murder case, we direly felt the need of a narco test centre in our State. Without it, we were forced to take the accused Gopal Das to Pune for the test. Establishing a narco test centre in Odisha is a very good move by the state government.”

“All the equipment have already reached Bhubaneswar. We had a meeting at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) yesterday. Our doctors have gone there for training. I am hopeful that if all goes as per the schedule, the test centre will be up and running by the end of next month,” Sahu added.

Forensic expert, Muralidhar Nayak said, “It will be a significant milestone in crime investigation. For the last 30 years, we could only conduct polygraph or lie detection test at the SFSL in Bhubaneswar. Not only in Odisha, but other neighbouring States can also reap the benefits of this centre at Bhubaneswar.”
