The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) emerged victorious in the Notified Area Council (NAC) elections held for Attabira in Bargarh and Hindol in Dhenkanal districts.

While the conch party won 11 out of 16 wards including the chairperson's post in Hindol NAC election, the BJP registered victory in five wards. However, the Congress party has failed to open its account in the urban poll.

BJD candidate Kesab Pradhan won the chairperson post by defeating his nearest rival from BJP.

Similarly, in Bargarh’s Attabira, the BJD registered victory in 11 out of 12 wards while Congress managed to secure only one seat.

According to sources, BJD’s candidate for chairperson post Banamali Bariha defeated his nearest opponent Sabita Bhue of Congress by over 4000 votes.

Notably, the polling for councillors and chairpersons for Hindol and Attabira NACs was held on April 3.

In Atabira NAC, a total of 38 candidates contested the electoral battle for the councillors posts while four contested for the chairperson post. Similarly, 53 candidates were in the fray for the councillors posts for 16 wards in Hindol NAC.
