A manager of IDBI bank's Nabarangpur branch was detained by the police for allegedly misappropriating money from the bank worth Rs 1 crore.

The accused bank manager has been identified as Anjan Kumar Satapathy.

He was detained following the registration of an FIR based on the written complaint by the Regional Manager of IDBI Berhampur Division, Swarup Dutta.

As per the complaint, Satapathy took Rs 1 crore from the bank’s vault to deposit the same in the currency chest of the SBI on December 1 and 2.

However, during an inspection, the employees of the branch found Rs 1 crore missing and informed the Regional Manager, who came to the concerned IDBI branch. Following an investigation, Dutta filed a complaint against Satapathy at Nabarangpur Police station.

“We have registered a case 523/23 at Nabarangpur Police Station. We have detained the Manager of the IDBI bank on the basis of the FIR and an investigation into the matter is currently going on,” said Nabarangpur SDPO Krushnachandra Bhatra.

The reaction of the bank authorities and Satapathy could not be obtained in the matter.
