Even though one year has passed since former Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was murdered in a broad daylight, several questions still remained unanswered. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday targeted the Odisha government over the alleged lapses in the investigation into the sensational case.

At a presser in Bhubaneswar, state BJP spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra alleged that CM Naveen Patnaik has destroyed the sanctity of the Assembly by speaking lies for which he should seek an apology.

“The law and order situation in the state can be gauged from the fact that a minister was shot dead in a broad daylight. BJD then had said that law would take its own course. We (BJP) then had alleged that the murder was part of the conspiracy but the Crime Branch overlooked it," alleged Mohapatra.

Mohapatra further alleged that Crime Branch is an expert in suppressing facts from past incidents.

“CM Naveen Patnaik misled people of Odisha by presenting false facts. Be it Parliament or the Assembly, both are considered temples of democracy. CM had lied in the Assembly. When BJP had raised CBI demand in the Assembly in the past, it was overlooked by the state government. CM had then told that FBI help would be sought. We want to know what happened to the FBI probe, “questioned Mohapatra.

Mohapatra said that CM Naveen Patnaik should seek an apology for taking the help of lie before the upcoming Assembly session.

“Today, we are reiterating for a CBI probe into the Naba Das murder case,” Mohapatra added.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the Odisha government over the BJP’s allegations.
