Even though six days have passed since the gruesome killing of Health Minister Naba Das, the Crime Branch is yet to make any headway in the case. However, the allegations and counter-allegations by the Opposition BJP & Congress and the ruling-BJD have further heated up the political landscape.

Adding fuel to the ongoing political slugfest, Union Minister Arjun Munda on Saturday slammed the Odisha government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and termed the killing of Das unfortunate.

Launching a scathing attack on the Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government, Munda said, "Such a change in mindset of a man in uniform leading him to attack and kill a state minister raises questions. After a fair probe, findings should be made public."

“This is a major concern for the law and order situation of the State. If a state minister could be gunned down in broad daylight, then what would be the condition of the common people in the State? Whom will the common people trust? I believe, the investigation of the case should be handed over to an independent agency and the findings should be made public,” Munda added.

On the other hand, senior BJP leader and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra targeted the BJD government again and said the Crime Branch is trying to mislead people.

“If the government really wants to know the exact reason behind the killing of Naba Das, why is it not handing over the case to the CBI,” Mishra questioned.

No comments have been received from the ruling party in this regard.
