Intensifying its probe into the high-profile murder of former Odisha minister Naba Das, the Crime Branch conducted probe at Jharsuguda airport and Sadar hospital on Friday.

On the fourth consecutive day of the probe, a two-member Crime Branch team recorded the statement of radiographer Sasmita Bag under Section 161 of the CrPC.

According to sources, Bag had conducted the ECG of Naba Das after he was shot. However, the ECG report remains untraceable, raising further questions.

Earlier in the day, the Crime Branch team carried out a three-hour-long investigation at Veer Surendra Sai Airport, interrogating the airport director, chief security officer, and terminal manager.

Their statements were recorded under Section 161. Officials were questioned about the arrival and departure timings of the air ambulance on the day of the incident, including details of the passengers who were on board on the intervening day.

Previously, the Crime Branch had sent a letter to the airport director seeking information. With the probe gaining momentum, investigators are focusing on gathering crucial evidence to uncover the truth behind the murder.

“We have recorded the statements of airport director, chief security officer and terminal manager,” said Bijay Mallick, additional SP, Crime Branch.
