Mystery shrouds the death of a 7-year-old girl from Dhenkanal district with her parents bringing kidney theft allegations.
Girish Pradhan, the father of the deceased girl from Jhanjeriberana village, informed to have admitted her at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after they learnt that she had some heart-ailments.

Later, surgery was performed on her with assistance under BSKY card at a private hospital in Kolkata in January last year. It is alleged that some middlemen lured the girl’s family to Kolkata.  After some days,  the girl was again rushed to the private hospital in Kolkata by her parents after her condition deteriorated.

“I had admitted my daughter to the hospital. The authorities asked me to wait and after one hour they told me that she had died. They did not show her body and handed it the next day. They subsequently asked us to return to Odisha. I suspect that the kidneys of my daughter have been removed after death. I want justice,” said Girish Pradhan, deceased girl’s father.

The family had spent Rs 20,000 to bring the body of their daughter to Odisha and conducted her last rites recently.

Dhenkanal CDMO said, “Only after an investigation through post-mortem, it could have been ascertained whether the girl died due to kidney theft or heart surgery failure.”
