Keonjhar man in police station
In a new twist to the controversial Vaikunth Dham ashram at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar, a person from Keonjhar on Tuesday alleged that unethical practices were carried out in the said ashram.
As per sources, Jiten Giri, a man from Keonjhar district, not only brought allegations about unethical practices in the ashram but also claimed that he had evidence to substantiate his allegations.
He also alleged that his wife who had been a frequent visitor to the ashram had been missing. In this regard, he has lodged a complaint at Sahid Nagar police station.
“I have been searching for my wife for the last nine months. I suspect she has been detained in the ashram. They know I am searching for her. She might have known something about the ashram that they didn’t want to get leaked. They fear if she is allowed to meet me, she will spill the bean. I have proof to substantiate my claims about unethical practices allowed in the ashram,” said Giri.
No reactions from the ashram authorities were received.
The problem started mounting on the ashram after a picture of Holy Tulsi kept near the feet of ashram owner Kashinath’s son went viral on social media. Later, a social organisation filed an FIR against one Kashinath Mishra and his son at Bharatpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar for allegedly misleading and exploiting people in the name of religion.
Later, the officials from the GA Department carried out a preliminary assessment and it was then confirmed that the ashram had been built on government land.
Then the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) decided that the ashram building would be pulled down in the presence of the Commissionerate Police. However, they couldn’t because the Orissa High Court pronounced an interim stay on the civic authorities’ plan.
