Murder of 4 brothers in Ganjam: Court sentences 5 accused to life imprisonment

Aska ADJ Court on Monday awarded life sentences to five persons, who were earlier arrested on charges of brutally killing four members of a family near Pitala Chhak under Hinjilicut Police Station in 2022.

The incident occurred on March 22, 2022, when Mangulu Swain’s three sons- Sambhu Swain, Pandura Swain, Raja Swain and his nephew Chandan Swain were attacked when they were closing their fast food shop at Pitala Chhak.

The siblings were attacked by the assailants over passing some objectionable comments while they were extending help to a couple who met with an accident. The rival group members attacked the Swain brothers with iron rods and lathis when they were closing their shop.

Trilochan Parida, public prosecutor said, “The Court today found five accused- Milan Swain, Santosh Swain, Chitrasen Sethi, Amiya Swain and Bahana Pati guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.”

According to Parida, the statements of 26 witnesses and two eyewitnesses were recorded apart from other forensic evidences were also taken into consideration by the court.
