MoU for new Steel Plant in Keonjhar to be inked soon: Odisha CM

Odisha CM Mohan Majhi announced a MoU for a mega steel plant in Keonjhar, to be signed at the Utkarsh Odisha conclave in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29, aiming to boost local economy and employment. The CM was on a tour to the district, today.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled plans on Tuesday for a significant development in Keonjhar district with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a mega steel plant.

This announcement was made by the CM during his visit to the district, signalling a major step towards economic development in the region.

Formal signing of the MoU is slated for the upcoming ‘Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha’ conclave, which will be held in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister reinforced that the growth and development of Keonjhar remain a priority for the State government.

After completion, the new venture is anticipated to bring substantial economic benefits to the region, thereby contributing significantly to local employment opportunities as well as infrastructure development.

“I got the opportunity to serve the people as the head (Mukhia) of the State, and representing this district (Keonjhar) by the grace of Maa Tarini, Lord Jagannath, and the residents of this district as well,” the CM said to mediapersons.

“I will always give priority to the development of Keonjhar district. I will focus on roads, drinking water, health and education, including industrial development. I had been giving importance to setting up a steel plant in Keonjhar and also doing the same after becoming the Chief Minister,” the Odisha CM stated.

“Plans are afoot and discussions are on to sign a MoU during the Utkarsh Odisha conclave scheduled to be organised in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29,” the CM asserted.

“I want to assure the residents of Keonjhar that a steel plant will be set up in this district as has been demanded over the past. I am very much hopeful about it,” the CM added.
