Motorcyclist killed after being ‘hit by Ama Bus’ in Odisha

A motorcyclist died in a collision with an 'Ama Bus' vehicle on Balianta-Nimapada-Gop canal road near Niali. Another sustained injuries and was hospitalised in critical condition. The incident occurred while two ‘Ama Bus’ vehicles were overtaking each other. A detailed probe is underway.

An 'Ama Bus' vehicle detained by Balianta police

In a road mishap, a motorcyclist lost his life on Wednesday after being hit by an ‘Ama Bus’ vehicle on Balianta-Nimapada-Gop canal road near Niali locality. Another individual sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Identities of the deceased and injured persons have not been ascertained.

According to sources, the motorbike rider died after a collision involving 'Ama Bus' vehicle. Another individual, who has sustained severe injuries, was rescued by some locals and was rushed to the hospital. He was receiving medical treatment in critical condition.

Two ‘Ama Bus’ vehicles were overtaking

“In an ‘Ama Bus’ accident, a bike rider died, and the person sitting behind was injured. He has been admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The body was seized by Balianta Police, and a bus driver has been detained for questioning. The accident took place at Suanlo Panda Sahi under Balianta police limits,” some locals informed OTV.

“The incident occurred while two ‘Ama Bus’ vehicles were overtaking each other. During this, the bus heading towards Bhubaneswar hit the ill-fated bike. The motorcyclist was on his way to elsewhere towards Jagatsinghpur side when the incident occurred,” the locals further said.

The driver of the bus that allegedly caused the mishap fled from the spot along with the vehicle. However, driver of the bus coming from Adaspur side was caught, the locals added.

The incident triggered tension in the nearby areas, with local residents expressing outrage. Police reached the scene and strived to bring the situation under control.
