Morning classes, exams in Odisha colleges, universities!

The Odisha government has directed higher education institutions to conduct classes in the morning. A SOP in this regard was issued by the Higher Education department. However, the date from which this directive will be applicable has not been revealed yet.

As per sources, the step has been taken in view of the expected heat wave conditions during the summer season. Moreover, the institutions have been asked to conduct the exams during the morning hours as well.

The Higher Education Department has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure compliance.

The directive issued in a standard operating procedure (SOP), aims to minimise the impact of soaring temperatures on students and staff. Institutions have also been advised to ensure that an adequate supply of drinking water and oral rehydration solution (ORS) is available.

First aid kits are now mandatory in all colleges and examination centres as part of the initiative to handle potential heat-related issues.

To ensure compliance with the SOP, a special monitoring squad will be formed. The Higher Education Department has dispatched official communications to university registrars and college principals, urging them to adhere strictly to these measures.
