Mo Bus Involved in Accident In Bhubaneswar
At least two persons sustained critical injuries after being hit by Ama Bus (earlier Mo Bus) in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The duo, Ranjit Behera and Hrudananda Mohanty, was sitting in front of the bus in order to protect themselves from the scorching heat at the Master Canteen Square when the accident occurred.
CCTV footage showed that both Ranjit and Hrudananda were sitting at the spot while the Ama Bus had halted for nearly 20 minuted at Master Canteen OD terminal. Without knowing that people are sitting under the bus, the driver started the vehicle. As a result, Ranjit Behera suffered injuries to his right leg, whereas Hrudananda Mohanty sustained injuries to his shoulder and waist. They had just reached Bhubaneswar from Puri when the incident happened, said sources.

Victims Taken to Hospital
Following the Mo Bus accident, the injured youths were promptly taken to Capital Hospital for treatment. Both Ranjit and Hrudananda have accused the bus driver of reckless driving leading to the accident.

“The Mo Bus drivers and other staff also assaulted us after the accident. We had come to Bhubaneswar from Puri for some court-related works,”alleged a relative of the injured.
Investigation Underway
Local authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, residents have expressed concerns over the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent future mishaps.
Action By CRUT
Taking note of the incident, the officials of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) terminated the driver and guide as they could have avoided the incident had they been alert and careful.
Mo Bus And Accidents
The recent accident has intensified discussions around the safety measures and alleged rash driving by drivers of the Mo Buses in Bhubaneswar. Earlier, two women were seriously injured in Mo Bus accident at Chandrasekharpur BDA square in Bhubaneswar on February 6.
On February 4, Tension prevailed at the Raghunathpur area within Nandankanan police limits after a Mo Bus allegedly crushed a minor girl to death.
At least four persons sustained injuries while several vehicles were damaged in a series of accidents caused by a Mo Bus near Raj Mahal Square in Bhubaneswar on January 4.
