Mo Bus accident in Bhubaneswar
At least four persons sustained injuries while several vehicles were damaged in a series of accidents caused by a Mo Bus near Raj Mahal Square in Bhubaneswar. Palpable tension erupted at the spot as people raised questions over accidents being caused by such public transport vehicles at regular intervals in the Capital city.
Demanding stringent action against the driver of the Mo Bus and a permanent solution to the repeated mishaps, locals even staged a demonstration.
Sources said that at about 8 am on Thursday an electric Mo Bus plying on the Master Canteen-Raj Mahal Square applied brakes suddenly. Subsequently, a non-AC Route 26 Mo Bus crashed into it since it was right behind.
Further, three cars that were immediately next in line to the Route 26 Mo Bus crashed into one another in a series leaving at least four people injured.

Passengers of both the Mo Buses along with those travelling in the cars behind it were also affected and sustained injuries. The severity and conditions of those injured were being assessed.
Meanwhile, police arrived at the scene and managed to pacify the agitated crowd, clearing the traffic after about 30 minutes of chaos and tension. However, locals alleged that the electric Mo Bus was speeding recklessly and halted all of a sudden on a busy road. They also questioned the driver’s credibility and whether he was in an inebriated condition.

Concerned authorities, however, have not yet responded to the matter and stated that an investigation will reveal the exact cause.
It is worth noting that the state government had recently limited all Mo Buses to ply with a maximum speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour but the current allegations by the locals have once again raised safety concerns.
