MLA Bijay Shankar-Somalika discord: Somalika fails to appear before marriage registrar 

Somalika Dash, the rumoured girlfriend of BJD's Tirtol MLA, Bijay Shankar Das, who was supposed to appear before the marriage registrar's office in Cuttack on Thursday, failed to turn up citing health grounds. However, Trupti Ranjan Roul, the ex-husband of Pratyusha Nanda, whom the MLA reportedly intends to marry, appeared before the marriage registrar's office. 

The court held a hearing on the matter. Marriage registration officer Gopbandhu Parida said, "The counsel of Somalika appeared before the court and told the court about her illness. We had summoned Trupti Ranjan Roul, ex-husband of Pratyusha Nanda as a witness. Roul showed us documents proving their judicial separation.”

He also stated that no date was given for further hearing and an order on the issue will be released later.

Notably, Somalika Dash moved an objection on October 7 after the Tirtol MLA filed an application for marriage with Pratyusha Nanda. Somalika had deposed before the registrar on November 7 after receiving a summon to submit documents to prove her allegations against the MLA. The marriage registrar's office had asked her to prove her allegations by producing witnesses, data, and documentary evidence.
