The Nayagarh police on Monday rescued the missing minor boy Amrit after five days from Odagaon area in the district. Shockingly, he was rescued from his village Kural itself.

The boy was spotted wandering near his village when locals spotted him and alerted the cops. On being informed, cops rushed to the spot and rescued the minor boy who was taken to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) for medical check-up before being handed over to his family.

However, police are yet to find out the circumstances leading to the mysterious missing of the 12-year-old boy. Amrit, son of one Kalia Patra of Subudhisahi in Kural area under Odagaon police station, had reportedly gone missing while returning from tuition on Thursday evening.

He had gone for tuition at 5 pm and was supposed to return home by 7.30 pm. When he did not return, the family members initially thought he might be at one of his friend’s house. When it got too late at night, the family suspected the minor had been kidnapped.

There were several reports that the minor boy was kidnapped in a Bolero. However, his sudden appearance once again has raised eyebrows.

When contacted, Nayagarh SP stated that the boy has grown weak after going missing.

“Steps are being taken to provide him proper medical treatment. He will be questioned and the probe will proceed after there is improvement in his health,” the SP said.

However, cops are clueless as to who had allegedly kidnapped Amrit and where he was since the last five days. Though police suspected it to be a case of kidnap, there was no phone call for ransom to Amrit’s family. Now, the sudden appearance of Amrit back in the village has further added mystery to the case.

Meanwhile, the village sarpanch has stated that Amrit was indeed kidnapped and kept in a house with his limbs tied. However, the kidnappers provided him with food. However, the identity and the motive of the kidnappers is yet to be ascertained. Only time will reveal if it was a case of kidnap or there is some other conspiracy in his mysterious missing.

Earlier, police had recovered Amrit's bicycle from a bamboo bush located near a pond in the village.
