Mismanagement in Odisha CHSE Plus 2 result publication draws flak

As the Plus 2 results for science and commerce were declared at 11 am on Wednesday, the students awaiting the same from the last two weeks thought the wait is finally over. But they were far from knowing their results.

Much to their dismay, the results were not uploaded on the website provided by the CHSE for nearly two hours, making the students anxious even more. To add to their woes, in most places, the website did not even open for the students to check their results.

The students and their parents raised questions on the management of CHSE which has only one job to do in the entire year, which is to conduct plus 2 exams smoothly and publish the results on time.

“This is the first time we are trying to know our results ourselves. The website is not opening and our anxiety is increasing too. The Council had told us to publish the results at 11am. But it is 1pm and we still do not know our results,” said a student.

Not only the result publication time, but also the date was also delayed by almost 16 days. The CHSE failed to publish results in the promised 45 days of time. This year around, all the lecturers cooperated in the evaluation process. Despite that, the CHSE declared results 15 days after CBSE published its results.

Interestingly, the results of the arts stream and vocational studies are yet to be published and the CHSE has sought seven more days to publish the same.

In earlier times, the council used to discuss the conduct of exams, publication of results and the proposed reforms with the academicians. That is not the case now. Moreover, there are no academicians in the administrative positions of the Councils and Boards anymore, said, an academician, Amiya Mohanty.

However, CHSE Examination Controller, Ashok Nayak said, “Our evaluation was interrupted in Sambalpur for seven days during Ram Navami violence, otherwise we would have published it a week earlier.”

Asked about the proposed reforms, Nayak said, “Our academic council will decide on the reforms in the syllabus. We are discussing the modalities now. The academic committee will meet very soon to review the syllabus and evaluation pattern.”
