The smart city seems to be turning into a safe haven for looters as some unknown miscreants allegedly slit throat and looted Rs 6,000 from a businessman at Damana village in Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Sibananda Barik, a businessman by profession.

According to sources, Sibananda was going to open his shop when two miscreants approached and asked for money. As Sibananda refused, the miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapon, snatched Rs 6,000 from him and fled from the spot.

As a result of the attack, Sibananda received injury to his neck.

The locals rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. After treatment, Sibananda was discharged and sent back home.

Sibananda lodged an FIR in the police station regarding the incident and the police have initiated a probe into the matter to nab the miscreants.

“While I was going to my shop, the looters attacked me and snatched the money from me. It was the first incident that happened here. We are in terror after the incident. I have lodged an FIR with the police,” said Sabananda.
