Minor 'raped' in Odisha’s Bolangir, accused arrested

A minor girl was allegedly raped in the Turekela area of Bolangir district on Sunday night. The rape victim was admitted to Kantabanji hospital in critical condition, and following a complaint, the accused has been arrested by police.

As per reports, the mother of the minor girl filed a police complaint in this regard. In the complaint, she alleged that a person raped her daughter late Sunday night and she was found unconscious. The victim's condition was critical and she was rushed to Kantabanji Hospital. 

After the victim gained consciousness, police recorded her statement. Kantabanji SDPO is reportedly looking into the case.

Dr Rakesh Pandit of Kantabanji Hospital said, “A patient was received from the Turekela area with diarrhoea complaint this morning. She was treated. At about 11.10 am, the attendants of the patient complained that she is a rape victim. We immediately informed the police. A team of police officials has started an investigation into the complaint.”

The doctor also added that the condition of the patient is stable.

The accused was identified as Keshab Majhi of Banjhipali. He was produced in court, police said.

Kantabanji SDPO Gourang Sahu said that a rape complaint was received from the Turekela area. “A case has been registered. An investigation is underway. The condition of the victim is stable,” he added.
