A disturbing case of alleged sexual assault emerged on Tuesday from Tantiapal police limits in Kendrapara district, where a minor schoolgirl accused her tuition teacher of rape and blackmail.

According to an FIR lodged by the girl’s family, the tutor first proposed a relationship to the girl and, upon refusal, allegedly raped her and threatened to leak obscene photographs to pressure her into silence.

The victim's family has approached the local police station, but the family alleges no action was taken even after filing a formal complaint.

The girl’s family has now taken the matter to the Superintendent of Police (SP), demanding justice and strict action against the accused.

They have also alleged that the Tantiapal IIC has changed the original complaint, which was previously lodged. The local police have remained inactive, raising serious questions about their handling of the case.

“A youth (accused tutor) had been troubling my daughter when she was going to her tutor during school days, when she was studying in Class 9. Subsequently, we had stopped sending her for the tuition,” the victim’s mother said.

“Again, on August 15, when she was going to her college, the youth came in a car and threatened her. He warned to kidnap her, in case she refused to act as per his instructions. He also told her that he would make some old and obscene photos (of both the girl and the tutor) viral (upload on social media),” the woman stated.

“We had lodged an FIR around eight days ago, but the IIC concerned is not taking any action. Rather, he has changed the original FIR,” the woman alleged.

So far, there has been no official response from the police, despite mounting public concern over the safety of minors and police accountability.
