Police in 'action mode' against fugitives
Meanwhile, the police beat drums (Dengura in local parlance) and have declared Naik a proclaimed offender and a fugitive. “The police are committed to pursuing and taking strict measures against other fugitives involved in serious crimes throughout the city,” the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena stated.
“Under Sections 82, and 83 of the CrPC or Sections 84, and 85 of the current BNSS, Latkas (notices) are issued against the absconding criminals and announcements are made in the community stating the accused in absconding in a case. The offender is given a deadline to surrender. Failing which, the available movable and immovable properties of the accused are confiscated,” the DCP-Bhubaneswar said.
