Tension gripped Bari Community Health Center in Jajpur district on Sunday following the death of a five-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment there.
Family members of the deceased from Alibag alleged that the girl lost her life after an injection was administered to her at the hospital.
“I had brought my five-year-old daughter to the hospital for treatment of fever. However, she died after an injection was administered to her. The hospital authorities are responsible for my daughter’s death,” alleged deceased’s father Biranchi Gedi.
Following the allegation, some local people entered the hospital premises and vandalized it. They also set some important documents of the hospital on fire.
Upon being informed, Bari police, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and local Tehsildar rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the people by initiating discussions with them. Following the development, things returned to normalcy.
Jajpur CDMO Shibasish Moharana has assured that an investigation into the incident will be launched to find out the exact reason behind the death of the child.
“An investigation into the administration of the injection will be launched soon. If anybody will be found guilty, stern action will be taken against him/her,” said Moharana.
