Minor boy stabbed to death, another critical in group clash during Durga idol immersion in Nabarangpur

In a macabre act, while a minor boy was stabbed to death, another sustained critical injuries in a group clash during idol immersion of Goddess Durga in Nabarangpur district late on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Kiran Gadaba from Dandasi Sahi within Nabarangpur town police limits. Injured Tejab Harijan is currently undergoing treatment in Nabarangpur Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.

As per reports, a severe clash erupted between two groups during the immersion ceremony of Goddess Durga at around 12 am. 

Subsequently, the fight took an ugly turn with one group attacking the other with sharp weapons. In the process, Kiran was brutally stabbed and Tejab sustained critical injuries. Both were immediately rushed to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital. However, Kiran succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Tejab’s condition is stated to be stable.

The cause behind the stabbing is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Nabarangpur Town Police has detained a person in connection with the case and his questioning is currently underway.

Nabarangpur Town Police has registered a case in this connection and launched a probe. As per police sources, more information about the incident could be divulged after the completion of the investigation.
