Amid the ongoing investigation into the death of Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das , the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday brought serious allegations against the BJD government.

BJP MLA and leader of opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra alleged that Naba Das had died on the spot after being shot in the chest by an Assistant Sub-Inspector, and the State government enacted a drama of his treatment.

After being shot at by the ASI, identified as Gopal Das, near Gandhi chhak in Jharsuguda district on Sunday, Das was rushed to the district headquarters hospital. Later, he was airlifted to Bhubaneswar. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

“Firstly, had the Jharsuguda hospital authorities certified that the patient was in a condition to be moved to elsewhere for further treatment? As per the received information, Naba Kishore Das had died on the spot. I don’t understand why the drama of his treatment was enacted throughout the day,” Mishra questioned.

It can be mentioned here that Das was shot at from a close range at around 12.15 pm on Sunday in his own constituency, Brajarajnagar. He succumbed to bullet injuries the same evening.

The reaction of the hospital authorities and the State government could not be obtained on the allegations of the BJP.
