Midnapore-Howrah passenger train derails at Kharagpur, no injuries reported

While the exact reason behind the derailment is yet to be ascertained, the movement of trains on the route has been restored after a rescue team reached the spot and removed the bogie.

The last bogie of Midnapore-Howrah passenger train derailed near Kharagpur station on Saturday night. Sources said, as the speed of Midnapore-Howrah passenger train was slow, no casualty was reported in the mishap.

While the exact reason behind the derailment is yet to be ascertained, the movement of trains on the route has been restored after a rescue team reached the spot and removed the bogie.

It is pertinent to mention here that recently there was a major train accident at the Bahanaga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2.

At least 288 persons were killed and over 1000 others were injured in one of the deadliest train accidents in the country.
