The Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are likely to witness heavy rain accompanied by thunder on Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about light to moderate thundershower up to 1-2 cm per hour at both cities up to 2 pm today.

As per the regional center of IMD, there is a possibility of temporary traffic congestion and poor visibility due to intense rainfall.

Residents of both cities have been advised to avoid movement in the affected areas. Similarly, it has also been advised to the administrations that there will be water logging in low-lying areas and hence proper drainage arrangement should be made.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar experienced a record amount of 258 mm of rain on Monday. The road leading to Lingaraj temple was inundated with knee-dip water and commuters had to face a lot of hardships. Similarly, Bhimpur area under Ward No.22 was also waterlogged due to the heavy rain.

Life was thrown out of order in other parts of the State as well due to the incessant rain. The holy Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Puri was inundated because of the heavy rain that lashed Puri from 5.30-7.30 pm on Monday.

Communication along the road was halted for hours due to poor drainage facilities. Water could not be drained properly at Balagandi and the Hospital Squares in Puri. Moreover, the devotees could not have a smooth darshan of the Holy Trinity as they faced obstacles to enter Srimandir due to the deluge of water at Baisi Pahacha.

Meanwhile, several areas of Binika city in Subarnapur district have been waterlogged due to the intense rainfall. Due to lack of proper drainage facilities, water even entered some houses putting the people into a lot of trouble.
