Launching a broadside against the BJD-led dispensation in Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice President, Baijayant Panda on Saturday said media houses in the state are becoming victims of the targeted wrath of the State government.

Taking a swipe at the BJD-led government, Panda said, “Earlier, some media houses were the target of the government. And now, some others are being targeted. The law should be allowed to take its own course. But, you (the BJD) had imported a leader, appreciated him for years, and gave him posts too. Now suddenly, you are saying that he has several complaints against him. Didn’t you know it earlier? This clearly suggests that he is being politically targeted. People should know it and they are getting to know it.”

Giving a comparative picture of the Centre and the state, he further said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become the fifth largest economy in the world. It is going to be in the third spot. Most importantly, India is currently extending its helping hand to hundreds of countries. Globally, India’s position has already changed. But, the progress in Odisha has got stuck. The benefits of Central government schemes are not reaching the people due to corruption and loot. Crores of houses are being distributed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana across the nation. Go and ask the people of Odisha whether there are irregularities and corruption in the distribution of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or not? Go and ask the people whether the houses are being given to those owning three-storey buildings or not?”

No response has been received from the ruling-BJD.
