Marriage Season ON: From Anubhav Mohanty to Manmath Routray, Odisha politicians begin new innings
The wedding bells are ringing in the political sphere of Odisha, with not one but four politicians of the state having begun new chapters of their lives. While some have entered into the institution of marriage for the first time, others have begun their second innings. To turn their big day into a grand yet intimate ceremony, someone chose the sun-kissed beaches of Goa, and another opted for Jaipur.
It's not just their weddings that have stolen the spotlight, the haldi and mehndi ceremonies have been equally vibrant, filled with colour, joy and laughter. In the presence of their family members and close friends, the politicians of Odisha have set off on their matrimonial journey.
Former MP of Nabarangpur and current BJD leader Pradeep Majhi has finally tied the knot after remaining a bachelor for a long time. Majhi chose Panaji, Goa, to exchange vows with Sushree Sangeeta from Kendrapara. Dressed in a white sherwani, paired with a turban, Majhi embarked on his conjugal life in the presence of family members and close friends.
Notably, before the duo set out on their matrimonial journey, a grand haldi ceremony was held. The bride and groom danced to the music with high enthusiasm. Moreover, the joyous moments of the wedding celebration were captured with a lively photoshoot.
Speaking to OTV, Majhi stated that marriage might bring some changes in his life.
While for Majhi it was his first marriage, actor-turned-politician and former MP Anubhav Mohanty started his second innings. A year after his divorce from actress-turned-politician Varsha Priyadarshini, Mohanty tied the nuptial knot with his 'best friend' and former journalist Jagrati Shukla for the second time. Their wedding took place at the Jagannath Temple in Delhi's Tyagraj, in the presence of family members and close friends.
Before their marriage, the duo hosted grand haldi and mehndi celebrations.
Not just Mohanty, but BJD leader Manmath Routray, also began his second innings. Senior leader Sura Routray's younger son, Manmath got married in a highly private ceremony at Chandaka Resort near Deras, Bhubaneswar. The BJD leader, as a groom with a ceremonial sword in hand, arrived at the bride's door amid music and lights on March 3, 2025.
Manmath Routray tied the nuptial knot with Rozalin, who hails from Patia, Bhubaneswar and works at a bank in Mumbai. A handful of family members and close friends were present to bless the newlywed.
Only around a month ago, on February 2, 2025, Mahanga MLA Sharada Prasad Pradhan tied the knot at the age of 47. The legislator married Sipra Priyadarshini hailing from Barimula village under Derabish block of Kendrapara district. Pradhan's wedding took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Notably, Pradhan's newlywed wife is currently undergoing training as an OAS (Odisha Administrative Services) officer.
