Maoists kill couple in Odisha's Kandhamal

Once again the Maoists have unleashed terror by killing a couple, suspecting them to be police informers. The shocking incident has been reported from Gidapadar village in Kandhamal district.

The deceased have been identified as Dahira Kanhar and Batasi Kanhar. Both of them were brutally killed by the rebels inside a forest near the village, sources said.

As per initial reports, a group of armed Maoists had picked up the couple from their house at around 9 pm on Friday. 

The bodies of the couple are still lying in the forest and police officials are yet to reach the spot since the last filing of this report.

It is pertinent to mention here that Maoist presence is felt in Kandhamal district and Ganja cultivation is rampant here.

The bodies of the couple were found on Saturday morning. No villagers are daring to venture into the forest to retrieve the bodies.

Many believe that Maoists usually plant explosives near dead bodies, the security personnel are closely monitoring the developments.
