Maoist posters surface in Odisha-Telangana-Jharkhand borders as ultras observe ‘Shaheed Saptah’

As the Maoist outfits observe Shaheed Saptah (Martyrs’ Week) from July 28 to August 3, heightened activity has been reported from several border areas of Odisha. Maoist banners and posters have surfaced along the Odisha-Telangana and Odisha-Jharkhand borders, triggering increased security measures.

In Malkangiri district, Maoist posters and banners were spotted near the inter-state border with Telangana, reportedly put up by the Charla Area Committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). The materials were prominently displayed on a main road near Kothagudem village in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Meanwhile, along the Odisha-Jharkhand border, similar Maoist posters were found in the Saranda forest region. The banners were attributed to the Eastern Regional Bureau of the CPI (Maoist)’s Chotanagpur Divisional Committee. In these posters, the rebels opposed Operation Kagar, a security offensive launched to flush out Maoists from the region.

Posters were also found in Banka village under K. Balang police limits, including near stone mining sites. Notably, the Maoists had looted explosives from the area a few days ago.

In response, security forces have launched intensive combing operations in the affected regions. The recovered posters have been seized, and patrolling has been intensified to prevent any potential Maoist activities during the week-long campaign. Authorities have appealed to the public to remain alert and report any suspicious movement.
