A Maoist camp was busted by security forces in the Korabir forest of Jharkhand sharing borders with Odisha's Sundargarh district on Saturday, thus thwarting a major threat from the Left-wing ultras.

As per reports, CRPF and COBRA jawans have been carrying out anti-Maoist operations in the fringe areas of Sundargarh and Jharkhand to ward off possible violence and threats from ultras.

The security forces stumbled upon the camp in Korabir forest under Sonua Police limits. Some Maoists were reportedly hiding in the camp. On seeing the security forces, the ultras fled the camp leaving behind their arms and ammunition.

The security personnel recovered SLR guns, explosive materials, tiffin bombs, electric wires, Maoist uniforms, Maoist literature and Rs 27,000 cash.

Following the incident, CRPF and COBRA forces have stepped up the combing operation and security has been heightened in the bordering areas of Sundargarh, sources said.
