Putting an end to speculations around a new leader ahead of the 2024 general election, senior BJP leader Manmohan Samal has been appointed president of the party's Odisha unit.

BJP National President JP Nadda on Thursday appointed Samal as Odisha's party State President. Samal will replace the present chief Samir Mohanty.

Speaking to OTV, Samal said he will continue his party's fight for the poor of the State. BJP will fight against the misrule of the ruling BJD, and the rising corruption in the State. This corrupt governance in Odisha needs to be changed in 2024, he said.

Resentment is already brewing among people against the Odisha government and that will help throw this government out of power in 2024 general elections, said the new BJP chief adding, "People want an alternative and they have found it in the BJP."

Samal also sought cooperation from all in strengthening the party while claiming that the BJP will form the government in Odisha in 2024.

BJP MP from Balasore, Pratap Sarangi welcomed Manmohan Samal for being appointed as the State chief.

“Manmohan Samal has already served as State president, minister, MLA and MP. In the organization, he has discharged whatever responsibilities entrusted to him eagerly and sincerely.  He has long experience of working by taking all leaders and workers together. For him, this year is going to be a year of challenge. I believe his successful political life will go a long way in helping him face the challenge. He will take the party to a new height. The decision taken by the central leaders, especially BJP National President J.P. Naddaji and Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, is a historical one and I express my gratitude to them. I hope, the party will come to power under the leadership of Manmohan Samal,” said Sarangi.

Similarly, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra was optimistic that Manmohan Samal’s vast political experience will help the party form government in Odisha.

“His experience will be helpful for the Bharatiya Janata Party. By taking all with him, he will take the party to a greater height. Cashing in on his experience, the party will make its organization wider to come to power in the 2024 general election. Since we are preparing for a general election, without holding any organizational election, a president has been appointed. We are welcoming the decision of the Central party leadership, and hope that the vast experience of Manmohan Samal will be helpful for the party. I congratulate him,” said Mishra.

Likewise, senior BJP leader and Opposition Chief Whip, Mohan Majhi is sanguine about the party’s success in the 2024 general election under the leadership of Manmohan Samal.

“Our party that once used to be in third position is now in the second position. Ours is the Opposition party. As of now, a process has been started to form the government in the State. For this, the party was in need of Manmohan Samal. The way the party is being reconstructed, it will definitely earn success for the party,” Majhi said.

At the same time, BJP National Vice President, Baijayant Panda took to his Twitter handle to congratulate Virendra Sachdeva, Manmohan Samal, C.P. Joshi and Samrat Choudhary for being appointed as State BJP Presidents for Delhi, Odisha, Rajasthan and Bihar respectively.

“Congratulations to @Virend_Sachdeva, Manmohan Samal, @cpjoshiBJP & @SMCHOUOfficial on being appointed State BJP Presidents for Delhi, Odisha, Rajasthan and Bihar respectively,” read the Tweet.
