A man from the Sundargarh district ended his life after being unable to recover from the shock of his wife's death.
The deceased, identified as Nandlal Champia under Tensa police limits, ended his life by hanging himself from a tree on Sunday.

This came after Nandlal's wife who was undergoing treatment at Rourkela for the last three months died on March 20, 2024. Sources said Nandlal's wife sustained critical burn injuries while she was sitting beside a bonfire in January this year.

Following the incident, she was admitted to Rourkela Hospital and was undergoing treatment. However, she died on March 20 leaving behind a four-month-old baby. After hearing the news of his wife's death, Nandlal was reportedly tensed. It is suspected that he ended his life out of shock and fear of being unable to raise the child alone.

"We had initially admitted her to Rourkela. Later, she was shifted to another hospital. They loved each other a lot. After my daughter's death, my son-in-law was crying a lot near her body," informed deceased Nandlal's father-in-law.
