Man beaten to death by in-laws in Bolangir, body stuffed in sack seized

In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws over a family feud at Chabripali village under Khaprakhol block in Bolangir district on Thursday.

Khaprakhol police have detained some persons in this connection and their questioning is currently underway.

The deceased has been identified as Rudra Meher, who hailed from Rajbhatipada village under Padmapur police station in Bargarh district.

As per reports, Rudra had tied the nuptial knot with Sarojini Meher from Chabripali village.

However, there was a quarrel between the couple following which Sarojini moved to her paternal home. Subsequently, Rudra came to Chabripali on Wednesday to take Sarojini back to his home. 

When Rudra reached Sarojini’s house, there was an altercation between him and his in-laws. It was alleged that the family members of Sarojini lost their cool and thrashed Rudra to death. In a bid to destroy the evidence, they stuffed the body in a gunny bag and loaded it in a van.

However, police after getting a tip-off from a reliable source intercepted the vehicle and seized the body. Two persons have been detained in this connection. Their questioning is currently underway by Khaprakhol police.
