Kerala police arrested a man in Kandhamal on Wednesday for allegedly killing his girlfriend in Kerala.

The arrested accused has been identified as Samuel Badamajhi who is a resident of Rangapanga village under Kotgarh police station in Kandhamal district.

As per reports, Samuel was married but he developed a love relationship with Ritika Sahu in Kandhamal. Both of them went to Kerala in search of livelihood. However, Ritika somehow came to know that Samuel is married. The incident led to an altercation between both of them.

Following the development, Samuel lost his cool and allegedly stabbed Ritika with a sharp-edged knife. Subsequently, Samuel returned to Kandhamal leaving Ritika in a critical condition. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.

Upon being informed about the gruesome incident, Ritika’s father went to Kerala and filed a complaint in this connection at the local police station. Based on the complaint, Kerala police started an investigation into the incident and came to know that Samuel returned to Odisha after committing the crime.

With help from Kotgarh police, Kerala police conducted a raid at Samuel’s father-in-law’s house where he was hiding. The accused was subsequently arrested. 

Further investigation into the incident is currently underway. As per police sources, more information about the incident could be revealed after questioning of the accused.
