The repair work of Ratna Palanka (bed) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings and the silver cladding of Singhadwar of Puri Srimandir will be completed before Rath Yatra, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das after a crucial meeting on Saturday.

Speaking to the media, Das said, “The meeting had a discussion on two important things- repair work of Ratna Palanka and silver cladding of Singhadwar. All necessary measures will be taken to complete the works before the completion of Rath Yatra.”

“We will seek necessary permission from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for the silver coating of the Singhadwar. The donor has given his consent to offer the required silver for the cladding,” Das informed adding that, “Devotees will be allowed to enter the temple through Uttara Dwara during the period.”

Sharing details about the silver coating work, ASI core committee member NC Pal said, “A temporary door will be built and it will replace the original gate of the Singhadwar. After the silver cladding is completed, the original door will be installed at the temple. We have instructed to complete the work before Bahuda Yatra.”

“The silver cladding work will be carried out under CCTV surveillance and police will be deployed at the renovation site,” Pal informed.

Notably, the annual Rath Yatra this year will begin on June 20.
