A delegation of the BJP, led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra on Thursday, met members of the party’s youth wing, who were arrested in connection with a scuffle that broke out during a protest on Tuesday in Bhubaneswar.
The delegation comprising Opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi, Dhamnagar MLA Suryabanshi Suraj and Brahmagiri MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra met Yuva Morcha President Irashish Acharya and 21 other arrested party workers in jail and held discussions with them.
The saffron party also condemned the police excess and termed the cops as workers of ruling-BJD.
“The arrested party workers had injury marks on their bodies. As police enjoy authority, they filed cases; however, no action has been taken on our complaint. The Odisha Police is working as a BJD party worker,” Mishra said.
“The police are trying to tarnish our image. I strongly condemn the police action. Those who thrashed our party workers in civil dress are inhuman. BJD’s end is near,” he added.
