In view of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP on Saturday appointed party's National Vice-President Baijayant Panda as the new election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.
Amit Shah was in-charge of Uttar Pradesh during 2014 general polls while JP Nadda was the in-charge during 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The saffron party has appointed election in-charges and co-in-charges for 23 states including West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Odisha.
While senior leader and party’s National VP Baijayant Panda has been appointed in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Vinod Tawade has been appointed as election in-charge of Bihar.
Vijaypal Singh Tomar has been named election in-charge of Odisha along with Lata Usendi as co-in-charge.
UP Lok Sabha Polls and BJP
There are 80 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP had won 71 seats in 2014 while 64 in 2019 general polls.
