The owner and distributor of an edible oil manufacturing firm have landed in trouble for allegedly using President of India Droupadi Murmu’s photo in hoardings and banners meant for oil advertisement.

The matter came to the fore after lawyer Jharana Prusti filed a complaint with Karanjia Police in Mayurbhanj district in this regard.

According to the complaint, the edible oil manufacturers have insulted our President by using her photo in hoardings and banners. The manufacturers have used the photo of President Droupadi Murmu in hoardings and banners put up in both rural and urban areas for the sake of their own interest.

She has questioned: “Who had given them permission to use President’s photo in the banners and hoardings. Had they taken the permission of Notified Area Council authorities?”

The complainant, meanwhile, demanded stringent action against the oil manufacturers.

Expressing disappointment, lawyer Jharana Prusti asked whether the oil firm, Rani Oil Manufacturing Company, has taken prior permission from the President to use her photo.

Prusti questioned, "Has it taken permission from the President to use her that photo for its own benefit? Has it taken prior permission from Karanjia Notified Area Council to fix those banners and hoardings?"

"Being a tribal doesn't mean one doesn't deserve respect. Stringent action should be taken against the errant oil company,” she added.
