Liquor mafia attack excise dept officials during raid in Athagrah, 4 vehicles ransacked

As many as four staff of an Excise department team sustained grievous injuries after they were allegedly attacked by liquor mafia while conducting a raid in Dalua forest under Khuntuni police limits at Athagarh in Cuttack on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off over the illegal trade of liquor, a team of the Excise department reached the forest and carried out a raid.

Before they could understand anything, the assailants attacked the officials with sharp weapons leaving them critically injured.

Besides, the miscreants also ransacked four vehicles of the officials parked in the forest.

On being informed about the incident, Khuntuni police and Excise Department officials reached the forest and launched an investigation into the matter.

No comments from the police and the Excise department could be obtained over the matter.
