Lion ‘Krish’ dies in Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park
The male lion ‘Krish’, born in Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park in 2004, died on Wednesday due to old age, leaving animal lovers heartbroken. The popular animal park in Bhubaneswar mourned the loss of the aged Nandankanan born male lion that was one of the major tourist attractions in NZP.
According to officials, Krish was growing weak and losing his body condition with reduced appetite due to old age. Its condition had worsened since 26th July and was continuously under geriatric palliative treatment, said sources.
Despite best efforts by dedicated veterinary doctors and support team, the male hybrid lion was unable to recover and walk properly.
Krish’s condition continued to decline and it finally breathed its last today at around 9AM at a ripe old age of 20 years, informed the Zoo authority.
Worth mentioning, Krish was born at Nandankanan and sired two litters- Kalpana and Jeet with Radha.
