Lightning strikes kill four in Odisha’s Kendrapara

A prawn fisherman, identified as Anil Behera of Saliancha village under Aul Police limits, was working in his prawn gheri at Saliancha Bheda when he was struck by lightning.

Trees uprooted during rain

At least four persons were killed in lightning strikes in four different places in Kendrapara district on Tuesday. 

Today, norwester rain lashed many parts of the Kendrapara district. Four persons including a student were killed after being struck by lightning. 

A student, identified as Ashutosh Jena of Bangari village under Kudanagari Police limits, was working in his farmland when lightning struck, killing him on the spot.

Similarly, a prawn fisherman, identified as Anil Behera of Saliancha village under Aul Police limits, was working in his prawn gheri at Saliancha Bheda when he was struck by lightning. Local people rushed him to the Aul Community Health Centre (CHC). However, doctors pronounced him received dead. 

Two such lightning deaths were also reported in Kundilo and Birijanga villages. 

Under the influence of norwester rain, several trees were uprooted in many places, leading to disruption in the power supply.
