Taking the 'act of vandalism and unrest' by the protesting lawyers of Sambalpur District Bar Association into cognizance, the Bar Council of India on Monday suspended licence of several lawyers.

Licences of 29 agitating advocates have reportedly been suspended by the Council for a period of 18 months with immediate effect.

The Bar Council of India has further suspended all the members of the district bar association till further orders.

The 29 advocates whose licences have been cancelled are- Sureswar Mishra, Shib Diwan, Pramod Saraf, Satyanaryan Purohit, Srikant Panigrahi, Himansu Panigrahi, Mahendra Badhei, Anup Taria, Silu Mahapatra, Satyanaryan Panda, Prabin Singhdeo, Rabi Pujhari, Suraj Biswal, Clumdralcanta Mohanty, Nabin Satpathy, Saroj Sahu, Manoranjan Dash, Manus Mishra and Sameer Mahapatra, Bandita Mishra, Rajib Satpathy, Basanta Mishra, Minketan Bhoi, Ratan Aganval, Bijetendra Pradhan, Suranjini Barik, Pradeep Bohidar, Babull Panda, Manoranjan Panda, read a release issued by the Bar Council of India.
