Rani Ranjeeta Pattnaik from Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi, who has secured Rank-4 in the recently announced Odisha Judicial Services (OJS)-2022 results, was attracted to law from her childhood. She strongly believes that law is required to form a healthy society.

Daughter of Rashmi Ranjan and Sandhyarani Patnaik, Ranjeeta pursued her law career by joining the integrated law, (BA LLB) at University Law College under Utkal University. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree (LLM) in criminal law under Madhusudan Law University.

Speaking to OTV, Ranjeeta said, “I am proud of my achievement. Though I performed very well in every stage of my exams and expected a good result, I never thought making it to Rank-4.”

“I was preparing for the last two years. My preparation strategy was subject-specific not time specific. My approach was quality over quantity. I was never a student who religiously sat 14-16 hours to study every day. Whatever time I devoted to my studies, I tried to give it my best. But I studied almost 24 hours a day before two months of the OJS main exams,” she said.

“I have been noticing from my childhood that law is prevalent everywhere. I understood from the very beginning that a society cannot be formed without law. Law is important for a social order. When I grew up, I decided to pursue integrated law after my 12th standard. The judiciary is the only place where a person cannot get biased. So I wished to join the judiciary system so that I remain impartial and my integrity remains intact,” Ranjeeta added.

Extending her gratitude, Ranjeeta said, “I would like to thank God first, then my parents, my teachers and my friends for my success. I have succeeded in achieving my goal only because of their blessings.”

The result of the OJS final examinations conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) was published on Wednesday in which women candidates outshined their counterparts and put up a spectacular performance.
