Land dispute turns violent in Bhubaneswar: Three youths critically injured in group attack
As many as three youths were critically injured in a violent clash over a land dispute in the Bharatpur police station area in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as Bishu, Bapi, and Sangram. They were admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. They are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
As per reports, the incident occurred when a group of 20 to 30 assailants allegedly launched a coordinated attack on the victims with swords.
Following the incident, Bharatpur Police visited the crime scene and initiated a detailed investigation into the incident. However, no official statement has been issued by the police so far.
"Some miscreants were trying to encroach on our land by using a JCB. When we prevented them, they attacked us with sword, iron rods, and other sharp-edged weapons, and we were severely injured in the process," said a victim.

"These kinds of hooligan activities have repeatedly been happening in the Bharatpur area for the last three to four years, mainly due to police inaction," he added.
"The miscreants have formed a gang, and they attacked us as per their earlier plan. Being backed by some politicians, they are repeatedly creating a law and order situation in the area. However, police have been reduced to mere spectators," said another victim.
Earlier in May this year, at least two youths sustained critical injuries after they were allegedly stabbed over a social media post at Saiprasad slum area under Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar.
